UW–Eau Claire’s Jazz Ensemble I

UW–Eau Claire’s Jazz Ensemble I is a six-time winner of Down Beat magazine’s “Best College Big Band” award and two time Grammy nominee. The New York Times calls the UW-Eau Claire jazz program one of the most “well regarded in the country.”  The jazz studies area includes over one hundred students striving in unique educational and performance opportunities.  The UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble I has recorded more than 18 critically acclaimed CDs. Red Wing High School Jazz Lab I

March 19/20, 2016, Red Wing Jazz Bands headed up to Duluth, MN to participate in Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival. 

 “Congratulations to the Red Wing Jazz Bands on great performances on 3/19/16. Also-congrats to Jazz Lab on receiving the “Outstanding Performance Award.” Additionally, Elise Leise and Chalin Xiong were giving the “Outstanding Solo” Awards.” says director Dan Marrs.

Each spring UW-Eau Claire hosts one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious collegiate jazz festivals in the country. On April 21stand 22nd the Eau Claire Jazz Festival welcomes headline performers Doc Severensin, best known for leading the NBC Orchestra on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and Carl Allen former director of jazz studies at Julliard School of Music and drummer for J.J Johnson, Joe Henderson, and more.     Thank you to the UW Eau Claire Jazz 1! They did a fantastic job and the Red Wing Jazz Band 1 who also did amazing things! A very enjoyable concert!
